faqs
As for the book, here’s my lame attempt to answer some of the most common questions that I’ve gotten about it so far:
- Canada (etc): This has been a popular topic, as the book is listed on the Amazon.ca site, but without an official release date (as of this writing). However, I can confirm that the book will be out in Canada on March 2, just like in the US, so our neighbors to the north can feel free to pre-order as they so desire.
(For those of you who asked about it in the UK, I’m still looking into this, though it’s listed on the Amazon.co.uk site without a release date, as well. To be continued…)
- Kindle: A Kindle edition is “in the works,” but that’s all I know. If you check out the Amazon.com page for the book, below the picture of the cover there’s a link to click to tell the publisher you want to read the book on Kindle. So if you want to read it on Kindle, click there. Power to the people, baby.
(That’s the one thing I’m learning about this process: If enough people want it – e.g. the book on Kindle; me to do a reading in Zaire; me to get another book deal, preferably one large enough to allow me to become a full-time cad/raconteur, etc – there’s a good chance that it’s going to happen. So speak up, friends.)
- Book reviews and interviews: If you or someone you know or someone you’re sleeping with works for a newspaper, magazine, popular blog, TV show, radio station or whatever and you think that you/they might be interested in either reviewing the book or interviewing me about it, let me know. As you have seen – and not to toot my own horn here – I’m usually a spectacular interviewee (to take nothing away from the incredibly talented Steve Almond, of course).
- Readings and signings: I don’t know my reading schedule yet, but I will certainly let you know when I do. But, speaking to the “power to the people” point above, if y’all can get enough people together in your city, well, then I’ll try my best to get out there and do a reading/signing. It’s likely that the publisher won’t pay my way to a lot of these places, seeing as I’m a shitdude and, you know, the whole economy’s in the toilet, but I’m pretty sure I can write off readings and their related travel as business expenses, so why the hell not? But this is something we’ll explore in the coming weeks.
I’ve also set up a Facebook “fan” page for the book to act as a warehouse for this type of information and keep it easily accessible, so you don’t have to dig through the site to find out where I’m reading or what kind of nudie pictures I like. And of course, you can also be my friend on Facebook and/or follow me on Twitter.
Finally, (first,) I apologize for the extreme amount of self-promoting linkage in the above paragraph. Secondly, I apologize in advance for all the extreme amount of self-promoting that I’ll be doing in the coming weeks until the book is released (did I mention it’s coming out on March 2?) and thereafter. But, c’mon – you can’t blame a guy for trying to make a living, right (see: lifelong desire to write poop jokes/drink beer/make love to self all day)? My promise to you is that I will try to be reasonable with it and not make every single goddamned post about “My book this, my book that.” Provided, I think we’re both pretty sure that I’m not going to keep that promise, but it’s something that felt like the right thing to say at this juncture.
So, I’m trying. Which is all you can ask for, really.
